Class By Jofel

Lekker eten en vriendelijke serveersters. I visited while continuing my search for Dirk, who has gone missing in Western Europe. I do not know who the mysterious Jofel is but they seem to have a plan to take over the Netherlands. There are now multiple “Class by Jofel” restaurants across the country and I feel Jofel will not rest until the land is gekoloniseerd. The staff are friendly and well trained, the restaurant has had no expense spared on the decoration and interior design. The food is very good, but I don’t think it quite makes a jump to fine dining. One thing that I personally found to be challenging was the music. It was a little too loud but the choice of music was too similar. Every song has the same beat and after a while it felt like Jofel themselves was standing behind you, slapping the back of your head like a drum in 4/4 time. Overall, a very pleasant experience and I will visit again in the future, potentially with Dirk.

Visited again after 2 years. My experience was better last time. The service was not as attentive as before, a little bit on the slow side. We had the red onion soup, which was bland. I liked the marinated salmon. The asian style steak was good, except the side dish of sea weed which did not really make sense to put under the steak. My rib-eye was well done, when I asked for medium. It came back smaller and flatter. I did enjoy the mash potatoes. The wines are good, but sadly not enough to retain 4*.

Nice lunch with my parents on a Sunday afternoon. Excellent quality of food. Poke bowl is of high quality and filled with fine ingredients. Nice Chardonnay on the wine list and round table, so conversation was easy. The overall atmosphere is nice and prices are reasonable, so worth visiting if you are in the area of the old center of Zoetermeer.

Last night we had an excellent (and good value) meal. The ossenhaas (known as beef tenderloin in US or fillet in UK) was huge and perfect, with delicious sauces, the best chips (french fries) and side salad for €26. The service inside was excellent and we were the only ones in the rear section in our time slot of 6 to 8pm which was ideal as we could enjoy a nice conversation. Regrettably, one star taken off this review due to the shockingly inattentive and slow service beforehand outside on the terrace for pre-dinner drinks.

We had dinner at this restaurant last night based on good reviews however the food was terrible and over priced. The Ossenhaas for 28.50 euros was terrible and smothered in a tomato purée out of the tin sauce and the specialty of the night Mosselen was served in a soup plate and came cold and basically were sitting in a dirty dishwater type sauce. We also had a king crab as a starter which consisted of a teaspoon of crab on a bed of left over Pokemon greens. Very disappointed with this restaurant and will never go back. We informed the waiter and they apologised but we had a disappointing evening.
